A backup does not guarantee recovery. The real measure is whether backups are created consistently, verified and restored within the target time.
RPO defines acceptable data loss and RTO defines the restoration window. A 3-2-1 strategy keeps three copies on two media with one copy off-site or offline.
Back up databases, user files and configuration together. Run scheduled restore drills and document duration, outcome and gaps so a real incident is not the first test.
